My Favorite Place: The Great Smoky Mountains

Growing up, I have the fondest memories of hiking and exploring the Great Smoky Mountains in the Tennessee area. The mountains are absolutely breathtaking and it's so peaceful. Most of my family live in Tennessee, so we will go camping, kayaking, and hiking all the time. We also like to visit a small town located in the mountains called Gatlinburg. This town has lots of activities you could do like go to the amusement park, aquarium, or my favorite the sky-lift. The view of the mountains on the sky lift is beautiful and definitely worth it.

    This is great, Jesika! I got to know the Smoky Mountains from one direction growing up in Nashville... and now I know them from the other side living in North Carolina. So beautiful! Maybe you will want to learn about the many legends of the mountains of India; the Himalayas take their name from Himavat, "Snow-God," who is the father of Parvati, one of the most famous goddesses -- Parvati at Wikipedia... and also Himavat :-)

Tech Tip: Word Counter for Chrome

A very helpful tool I found was the Chrome extension called word count tool. This tool is useful when writing the blogs and seeing how many words you are at instead of having to transfer your work onto a Word document. Personally, I tend to write less so this tool helped me meet the minimum word requirement. It can also help you know if you need to shorten some of your writing. Plus, this extension is very easy to install! First thing, go to this Chrome page to install the extension ( link ). After installing the tool, highlight some random text and right click on the mouse. You should see the word count tool option. After clicking on it, a pop up box will appear telling you the number of words. Hope this tool is useful for you!

The Return of Mathura Krishna is about 12 years of age now, and has been dealing with all the attempts made on his life by Kansa. He has managed to defeat all the demons so far sent his way. Krishna and his brother Bolarama head to the city of Mathura. There was a sacred object guarded near King Kansa's throne, which was a great bow. It is said anyone who wants to take his crown must first bend and break the bow, which is from the gods.  Krishna manages to bend and break this great bow. In doing so, it made a huge sound that even Kansa could hear it from a distant. Kansa wasn't able to sleep well because he kept dreaming of himself with no head. To others he showed no fear or concern about the bow breaking, but inside he was worried. The Faithful Friend There was an elephant and a dog who became great friends. Everyday they would eat together and just hang out. One day a peasant wanted to pay the elephant keeper for the dog. The elephant keeper didn't care for the dog, so he took the money. The elephant became depressed after losing his friend and wouldn't eat for several days. They told the king about the situation. He made an announcement to his people that whoever took the dog would be fined.  The man who took the dog turned the dog loose.
